No Button?

Just purchased a Dell I3847-3850BK tower.   The machine came with Windows 8.1, but I put a new HD in and loaded Windows 7, but discovered immediately that the onboard DVD drive didn't have an eject button...at least not one that was accessible.  I did the paper clip trick and opened the drive and successfully installed Win 7 Home Premium.  If I remove the disc from the drive, the icon goes away in Windows Explorer and I have to use a paper clip (very annoying) to open the drive.  What became of the button?  Is there a utility that puts an eject button on the desktop?    Haven't tried to disassemble the case yet to see if there's a button on the front of the drive, as part of the case is covering the lower half of the drive.  Do I have to drill a hole in the case to get to the button?
