Please look again through your CDs. It may be PowerDVD. You should have received a CD for the decoder, and another for the Sonic burning software.

I received 3 CDs with my system:

1) Operating System (XP Service Pack 2)
2) Drivers & Utilities (Inspiron & Dell XPS Computer Software)
3) Microsoft Works Suite 2006

I don't see the titles you refer to on any of them.

Just fyi, as a quick fix they (tech support) had me download a trial version of "CyberLink PowerDVD" from http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/download/trials_1_ENU.html

This adds the necessary codec to the system.

me too!--b130--pc restore..systems know and shows drive 'd'---but wont open a cd...music or anything else that i stick in there....my guess is it did not load (reload a driver) as it also did not reload windows word, excel, powerpoint....tech support wants to give me baloney about the ms word....pretty much called me a liar-- said it wasnt with my original pkg.......maybe i was haulucintaing all of those months--so now no ms word.......and no cd player...however i do have a request into tech support on the drive....maybe they will tell me i never had it originally.....hhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaagod bless em.................................................
