iDRAC firmware update fails
Hello,
I was attempting an iDRAC update on three servers today. All servers are the same model, running same OS, same version of firmware on their iDRAC's. I was running the update directly from the .exe file I had copied to each servers desktop.
Only one update was successful. On the other two, one server displayed the message Device: iDRAC, Application:iDRAC Failed to Access Virtual USB Device. Question, why was it trying to access a USB device?
On the other server, the error message said something like, 'There is currently an update running, please wait for that update to finish before starting another one'. There was no other update running at the time.
The specific update I was trying to install was iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v. 2.21.21.21, A00

Regarding the Virtual USB Device error, I am seeing this also and it looks like a regression from a earlier version of iDRAC. Running racadm racset prior to the update was/is the workaround. I believe the issue was related to the log not properly truncating.

Hi,
What model server are you updating? For the virtual usb error you can try turning off the virtual media. You may also want to try updating through the idrac interface http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/updating-drac-firmware For the other error try rebooting and running it again.
