EMC UNITY NFS Performance issue while CIFS working fine

Hello ALL,

We have EMC Unity into the enviorment and having LACP configured on both the SPA/SPB. While accessing the NFS/CIFS from via the same SP. CIFS is giving the 280 MB/s where as NFS is only giving the 40 MB/s. Please suggest whether it is firmware bug with 4.2.0 or something else.

    Hello Zoltan Vasvari,

If you are running the latest OE for your system, then it is best to open a support case for your issue so that we can look into your performance issue.

    difficult to say

upgrade to the latest available VNX OE

test without LACP to rule out network

if that doesnt help I would suggest to open a service request

How we can fine tune the enviroment and if it would be the network we should face the issue with CIFS as well.

not necessarily - NFS could use different ports/paths

Also NFS acts differently to network problems like packet loss

could also be a difference in which tools you use to test

or an issue with NFS client code or config

you could increase the nfs xfersize param for a start

We have very strange situation where read and write performance for cifs is good but only during write for NFS is taking time.

Do we have any optimization guide for Linux os....As soon as we star writing for 3 sec speed is 110 mb than it get down to 40 mb..Can anyone help

look at the network - esp. I/O errors and retransmissions

or open a SR with customer service
