Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c

After a number of attempts, still unsuccessful in removing the System Error message alerting me to this spyware.  Desktop still appears as a blue background.  Whilst I do not feel any noticable difference in hardware/ software, the alert message obviously makes me nervous.  Hijackthis log attached, hope you can help.

Get a copy of winsockxpfix.exe before you do anything. This is just a safety
item in case you can't get on the internet afterwards. You don't run it until
afterwards and then only if you can't get back on the internet.
You just run it and things should work OK after it reboots your system.

    http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm

    Get DelDomain.inf from:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/restricted.htm  and then right click on it and Install.

    Download the Hoster from:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip%20

Unpack to your desktop and run it.

Also download and install ccleaner.exe from http://www.ccleaner.com. Don't let
    it clean anything yet.

Shutdown and Restart and Boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key when you see the PC
    maker's logo.
Keep tapping until it tells you it is going to Safe Mode or you see the Safe
Mode menu. Select the top option.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yjcnep] C:\WINDOWS\yjcnep.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LTLIFWFA] c:\windows\system\ltlifwfa.exe /install

Wait 60 seconds and repeat the scan. Did any of the above come back? IF so
leave HijackThis up and right click on the clock and select Task Manager. Then
Processes. Find Explorer.exe, right click on it and select End Process. The
desktop will disappear but HijackThis should still be there. IF you don't see
it switch to Applications in Task Manager and highlight it there then press
Switch To or just double click on it. Check and Fix Checked the above again.
Restart Explorer by Task Manager, File, New Task(Run), explorer.exe, OK.

Run ccleaner.exe, uncheck everything on the first page except the two entries
with Temporary and then Run Cleaner.

Reboot into regular mode and install deldomain.inf and run hoster
just to make sure.  Wouldn't hurt to also install Spyware Blaster
and IE-SPYADS from the links on the same page.  Also get
    Spybot Search and Destroy from:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/
and let it immunize your system.  That will put a list of nasty sites in your hosts file
but they will all point to 127.0.0.1 so you can't accidentally go to them.

    To fix your desktop:

Start, Run, regedit, OK to bring up the regedit program.

find HKey_Current_User->Software ->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion>policies (Hit the + sign in front of each Key as you find them. That will open up the subkeys.)

Under Policies is usually an entry named System. If you find it highlight it and press the Delete key. Then OK. Close the program and reboot.

Start, Control Panel, Display (Properties). This should bring up Display Properties/Background. Change the wallpaper to something else and Apply. You may also need to select Web and uncheck the box where it says View My Active Desktop as a web page. OK

Run another HijackThis log and post it as a reply. Let's
    see how we did.

My observations: Message Alert has been removed and I now have a black desktop.  Tried to change the wallpaper but I'm now only able to use bitmaps whereas I used to be able to use jpeg or mpeg files.

    thanks again

Download and save to your desktop:

Then Open it.  Answer OK or Yes when prompted.  Then reboot.
