Recommended switch configurations?

Good morning (or whatever time it is for you),

Our last storage vendor has recommended switch port configurations. I've been looking around trying to find them for the VMAX but I haven't seen any. I'm new to EMC, are there any best practice guides or basic configuration guides I can give to my network team?

Thank you kindly,

Steven

what switch vendor ? We are using CIsco and other then setting  port RateMode to "dedicated" we leave it at defaults. From zoning perspective you do need to follow best practices of zoning each HBA to at least one port from each director or director/engine combination. IF you search this forum you will find similar discussions.

We we using Force10 s4810, it's a 10/40Gb switch from Dell. We're actually using iSCSI on our VMAX as we are not a FC shop and don't really have the experience at this point to manage it. Also management didn't want to have to build out a new FC infrastructure.

    *shrug*

    Thank you kindly,

    Steven

smaiello, for your host( not clear about your OS type) connect VMAX through iSCSI, you may find configuration tips through Host Connectivity Guide for which is available download from support.emc.com.

go to iSCSI connection part, it list some configuration about the iSCSI connection to VMAX array
