VNX chunk size or how much Data is on each disk?
Hi Folks,
I am new to the community and maybe its stupid question...
Had a discussion with my collegue today - If we have a Pool of, let say, 15 disks and we create a LUN on it. This LUN would have for exmaple 2TB and would be provisioned to one ESXi(VMFS5 1MB).
We create a VM of 100GB VMDK...
- How many disks would serve the data. I mean if I write some data to the VM, would all disks be used simultaniously?
- Do we have something like chunks here? Like 4 Tracks per disk, each Track 64k = 256k per disk, than use next disk and so on?
If so, would it be mean that I would only have the whole perfomance of 15 disks as of 3,8MB?
3. Is there a difference in VNX/VNX2/VNXe or Thin LUN/Thick LUN or RaidGroup with traditional LUN?
I hope somebody can dissolve the knot in my head.
Thanks a lot
Regards
Didi
