So this morning when i started my laptop my machine blue screened with the following message:

 

"Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate

It is corrupt, absent, or not variable.

 

Beginning dump of physical memory

Physical memory dump complete.

Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance."

 

 

ahh and what a wonderful message it is...NOT! :)

 

anyway - so i whacked in my XP cd and tried to run the "Recovery Console" but when prompted for my password it keeps saying that the password is incorrect...now i've only ever had 1 password on this machine since I purchased it and it has never changed...so is there like a "default" password that comes along with the Dell's or am I just completely out of luck and have to reburn my laptop? any other ideas?

 

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 running Windows XP...

 

any help would be greatly appreciated!!
