Calendar reverting back to 2002?

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm having problems with a desktop calendar that keeps reverting itself back to 2002. I'm trying to trouble-shoot for someone and he keeps telling me he needs a new batttery for his desktop HD? Doesn't really make sense to me, so I'm trying to figure out if its his system that is causing the problem. Its an Optiplex GX260 with Windows XP and Norton Anti-Virus 2003. He's not networked to any other computers he is aware of, but I believe there are 2 or 3 other computers linked to the same printer. I don't really want to spend an hour on the phone trying to get through to a customer service agent, so if anyone has any answers or suggestions, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance :smileyhappy:

Typically, when the date on a PC keeps changing, it needs a new battery on the motherboard. That battery powers the CMOS memory which holds the date and system hardware info. So if the battery dies, the info is lost when the power is turned off. Batteries are only a few bucks at PC stores, Radio Shack...
