I don't know why you don't believe me. I don't know anything about it technically. I just posted on the Vista forum about 6-12 months ago, I think, asking why it took so long to open messages in Windows Mail. Others had the problem too. I eventually got the solution to un-immunize in Spybot, and that worked. Maybe it has been fixed since then. I have Windows Live Mail now -- maybe Live Mail doesn't have that problem. Anyway, all the reviews I've read of antispyware programs, such as in PCWorld and Consumer Reports, etc, think that Spybot isn't very effective. Some of the sites rank AVG Antispyware highly. That's why I suggested the free version of it.

I don't think so !!!!!
Spybot S&D really slowed down opening Windows Mail for me also. So much so I stopped using it and switched to Windows Live Mail Desktop. That was a few months ago, and perhaps there have been updates to Spybot since then that fixes that issue. I guess I spoke hastily. I had never experienced this with either Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 or Windows Mail with Spybot's Immunization feature enabled. Currently I'm using Vista, Outlook 2007 and Spybot (immunization enabled) and still do not experience the slowdown.
Googling this topic, I did read several threads where users were having problems with this combination. Perhaps I am (or was) using a later version of Spybot than those who were experiencing problems. In any event, I apologize for my comment.
