I have an Inspiron 9200 which I purchased about 4 years ago. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card. Now I am facing this problem ever since I got the laptop. I have a UXGA screen and my screen size is 17". That means I get a resolution of 1920 x 1200 at the highest setting. However I'm unable to reduce the resolution. I want a lower resolution because the text is very very small to read at this high resolution. When I try to do this what I get is a small window with the desktop surrounded by black color. The window gets smaller and smaller when I choose lower resolutions, and I made sure to restart the computer before checking. I also have all the latest drivers installed. Can you please help me?

Otherwise I might have to get thicker glasses.
