iTunes Installation

When installing iTunes, I receive an error message HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.cdda\Open with Prog Ids. Looking at Apple Trouble Shooting refers me to sign on as the Administrator User Account or edit my registry file manually. How do I either (i) Access the Administrator User Account or edit the registry file for this issue?

The computer owner normally has an Administrator logon account – used when installing software or making computer system changes

Strange error message, if you are the Administrator then to open registry: Start > Run type in regedit then click OK

Use extreme caution if making changes in registry, otherwise you could end up with major problems

Navigate to the .cdda folder there should be two sub folders, an OpenWithList folder & the OpenWithProgIds folder that you mention should have RHS pane entries Name iTunes.cdda, Type REG_BINARY, Data (zero-length binary value)

If the above isn’t present then it’s probably a corrupt install.
Don’t know if installed from a download link or CD but try uninstalling iTunes using Control Panel > Add/Remove then reinstall it.
When installing (not downloading) genuine software it’s best to do it by working offline (no internet connection) so that you can disable Firewall, AntiVirus & any scanning software programs, which can cause software install problems
