Media Player
Hi, I have windows media player 9 .I recently purchased a camera(kodak) that will make a video. My problem is that media player will not play a .mov file. I tried to download the codec for this and apparently it is just not supported. I also have quick time movie version 2.1.1. This will also not play the file. Is there any way beside getting realplayer for me to play these files? Is the wmp 10 able to do this? Also I don't know if I am hallucinating but when I downloaded the movie from the cameras sd card using windows acquisition it originally had a wmp icon .Now it is a quick time movie icon. Any help will be appreciated

Thanks for your reply Osprey4. I had gone to quick times site and the new version is 6 or 7, so I guess mine is really outdated. When i was on there site the bar on top of page was saying I needed to let the site install active x program to view their site so I decided not to persue the newer version at that time. I did not install the software from kodak that came with the camera because everyone says they did not like having all the junk that comes with it. I just got a card reader and went that route instead. I will do as you suggest and look on the disk and see if it is there. What are your thoughts on kodaks software does it play nice with other software on the machine? Again Thanks for you input

I believe you need to update QuickTime. I would uninstall it completely and reinstall. Your camera software should have included QuickTime. See if one of the discs that came with the camera has it.
Your camera software may also have video editiing capability. The videos you create can be saved to other formats for viewing in WMP.
