microsoft outlook

Recently I had to change my server (suddenlink bought Cox) I made the change without problems except for microsoft outlook. This is my only program to get my E-mail. I don't use Express. When I go to outlook, I do not get the little hookup widget in the right lower corner, and I have lost the "send" switch. I can not get the E-mails even if I disable McAfee firwall etc.  Suddenlink has my hookup information correctly entered. I get no error messages, exept to say I have gotten  Protocol error 553 authentication. This has been corrected I think. What do I now?

You will need to delete the exisitng account and create a new connection with the proper setting for the SMTP AND POP3 servers.  The ISP will have that information.

That has been done several times over the past three days . the hook up is correct.  Now the test is completed on all fields. I still can not send or recieve E-mail from outlook. I get no connection icon and don't have a send switch on out going messages from outlook

My guess is you are missing a setting on the servers, which can be found in the "More Settings" button when you select cange account.  Very rarely do the ISP's use the plain settings of 110 for POP3 and 25 for SMTP.

I have contacted the suddenlink isp and they say that my settings are all correct.  Specifically, they sas that the pop setting is 110 and the smtp is 25 this is their default setting.  Now when I  run through the test for connection, I do not get any error messages, but I do not get any connection to the ISP by outlook. I still do not have the send switch on E-mail to be sxent and when I  hit send/recieve I do not get anything. I am back to thinking that there is a problem  with outlook.

What I meant to say is the name of their servers.  Gmail uses:

pop.gmail.com and smtp.gamil.com however there are a few special settings they use such as Port 925 for Secure E-mail instead of 443.

If I were you, I would uninstall reboot and reinstall Office.

Where do I get office? Dell had windows XP loaded. I don't have a copy. When I went to control panel I got a message that I could "repair " office, but then I got a note that the address proplus.msi was not available.
