I have 2 Dell machines with Windows XP Home Edition. On my Dell desktop I have a MS Backup under Programs | Accessesories | System Tools. However, I don't have it there on my brand new Inspirion 6000. A MS KB article (302894) said sometimes it isn't automatically installed and that I would have to install it from my Windows XP Disk and click on the ntbackup.msi file in the \valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder. However, I didn't get an operating system CD from Dell with this machine and I can't figure out how to get it from them. I have tried many phone numbers. Is it somewhere on my machine where I am not looking, or can I really get a CD from Dell??? Would it be safe to try to find it on the operating CD that came with my desktop? Thanks.
Contact Dell and request an operating system CD as indicated
here. In the meantime you should have no difficulty installing backup from the CD that came with your desktop system.
