When I ordered my xps420 I did not want any antivirus software and I clicked on the selection none. After I got the computer and read the order sheet they send with the computer, it also says none. I installed my own software of trend micro, but lately I caught the system scanning and it says norton . Now I have incredimail for email and I have to shut off the firewall on trend micro because if I do not, I can not get email.. I find I can not have two firewalls on ,cause windows has a fire wall I leave that one on .. If I reverse the firewalls I still can not get mail. I must shut the fire wall off in Trend Micro to receive mail. Again today I could not get any email I checked the fire walls and again they were both back on I supect Norton is turning the the firewalls back on again Now I donot know that much about Vista, but on windows xp I could go into control panel and go to add and remove programs and when it was populated you could see what was installed on your system ,now where do I go on vista to see what i have installed on the computer?
Thanks for the link, I use to have that installed on my old computer, but forgot the name and such when I got the new one.
For those concerned, I would print a copy of it and put it in a safe place. It has a lot of info that could be usefull if your laptop became "missing".
Click on the Mircosoft pearl(lower left corner)>control panel>programs and features or programs depending on what view you have enabled. There you will have a listing of what you can uninstall.

No, it has nothing to do with the factory restore image, that's part of your recovery "D" drive. The Norton Security software is just that.... software, you do as you please with software.
