PC Restore

Why do dell techs tell you to do a PC Restore when the blue screen comes up? I lost all my data (did i backup my stuff, no, of course not) and then the second time I called back to see if there was anyway I could be helped, the next tech rep tells me that I could have retrieved the data if they had sent me a disk. Why didn't the first tech person mention this to me?

Is there any way to retrieve data after a PC restore?

Help! :-(

Yes if you did indeed restore the Image from the restore partition you have lost all your data unfortunately.
I believe the keys used to restore are ctrl + F11, sorry for your bad experience.
A lesson learned, always back up data you cannot afford to lose. I too learned the hard way in the past.

Too late to help this time. But I can recomend something for the future. I use Norton's GoBack 4.0. I have many mistakes in the past. But GoBack has been to help me out of it. I never had any luck with system restore, and heavens no, I am not going to reformat my drive. But worst case, I also use CasperXP to clone my drive.

Just a note to boost Nortons GoBack, I was on the net trying to load a page. My computer crashed big time. NGB rebooted my drive, reverted it to the prior good boot up, shut itself down because part of it's storage file became corrupted and ran scandisk to check the drive. Scandisk found a couple bad sectors and when it was done, and the computer rebooted, NGB ask if I wanted to turn it back on and it reinstalled itself. So now after a major crash, I am back to computing at normal speed. Almost as if nothing ever happened. :smileyvery-happy:
