Hello,

i formatted my PC (due to a virus) and reinstalled windows XP on it. since my Dell computer is pretty old the windows CD didn't include the service pack 2. Since I bought another computer (not dell) for a frined not log ago i took his windows CD (service pack 2 included) and reinstalled it with his CD, thus saving me the trouble of updating my windows XP for hours.... everything went well until i was connected to the internet and windows neede to be activated.... the serial number given by Dell doesn't work any more.

WHY?

Do I have to reinstall windows with the Dell CD only?

Could the virus (spysheriff) have taken my serial number and have used it?

 

what can I do now?
