Very Slow Dimension XPST700R after installing XP
I have a Dimension XPST700R.
It took nearly 20 MINUTES to boot up my xpst700r. It is also very slow on
any application, keyboard responding, etc. What could the be reason?
It is an original system with extra 2x256MB mem. So it has 768MB. The XP has
been just installed without any application programs, except microsoft office.
Last night I upgraded bios for 700r XPST from 9 to version A11. It didnot help.
I took out the two crucial 256MB, thinking they are not compatible, but the speed remained
as slow. Then, I reinstalled the XP profession, the same OS as I already had, but the speed
remained slow.
A forum member suggested me to install the XP service pack. I will do it tonight?
What else it could be wrong?
The XP is now installed on a NTFS partition. Could it be the problem?
