Hello all,

A bit stumped at this - wanted to use the i7-10700 in my XPS 8940 in another system so I tried changing the CPU to a Pentium G6400. System is exclusively used for mining, run headless. But after the CPU change, I get a really quick (1 second or less) power cycle. When I hit the power button (or plug AC power in), everything turns on normally, but only for a second or so; then, some relay clicks in the power supply, and then nothing at all. During that second or so, LED at the back of the power supply is green but then goes out with everything else.

I've tried the manual's way of an RTC reset (holding power button 30 seconds) but nothing seemed to change. Not sure it did much as it just sat there as I held the power button. Also tried removing the 2032 battery for a few minutes and replacing, no dice.

Specifically, it's the motherboard's 6 pin power connector that seems to be the issue. I can have everything else plugged in (HDD, ODD, the two CPU 4 pin leads) and the power supply acts normally (green LED turns on for three seconds, then turns off).  But as soon as I plug in that 6 pin, problem returns.

Are those motherboards very strictly coded somehow to only accept their original hardware? Thing is, I tried putting the 10700 back in, same result.
