Dell XPS 17 9720 Memory Upgrade

Hello,

I just bought Dell XPS 17 9720 with i7 12700h processor and 16GB of DDR5 memory, and need to upgrade the memory to 32GB, I have couple of options, but don't know if they would work or not.

1. CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (2 x 16GB) 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM

2. Crucial 32GB (2 x 16GB) 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM DDR5 4800

3. Kingston Technology Fury Impact 32GB 4800MT/s DDR5 CL38 SODIMM

I would have bought the Crucial because it says that it will work with my laptop, but they are out of stock right now, and not sure when they will be there.

Has someone tried the other 2 with it ? Also the Kinston one is a lot cheaper then the others.

Particularly with DDR5, which is new (and comes with the compatibility issues all new tech carries), you are better off with RAM tested to work.  Crucial has a list of tested RAM -- so does Kingston (link below).  Note that their recommended RAM is not the one you've listed.

I don't think Corsair has a configurator for specific systems;  best to contact them before buying.

Thanks for the reply, I saw the kingston one, but was not able to find anywhere, they listed the KCP version which is not available anywhere, the KVP is, not sure what would be the difference.

The corsair has this chart, which has Alienware in the list, which theoretically be the same as xps 17. that is why I am confused.

But I guess I should wait for Crucial to come.

    • Dell laptops dont allow you to configure, and the kingston one doesnt work with xps 2022s, I was thinking to buy that one too but then saw at amazon that someone had a problem with it. I bought crucial ddr5s which works perfectly fine.
