Touchpad stopped clicking

Am I surprised, no. How many issues have I had with this laptop, too many to count. Got it in January and barely used it for the first 5 months as it would not connect to the internet.

Now the touchpad has stopped clicking. I can still tap and scroll but man upstairs (was not allowed to use his name) only knows how I am supposed to select text to copy and paste now.

I am posting on here because my phone bill from calling Dell and the time wasted with them has become more expensive than the laptop, is it a warranty issue though? Am I going to have to call them AGAIN!

Update - phoned today and within three minutes they told me they were replacing the touchpad. I have not had this service previously. I actually asked if he was joking. Several emails later to confirm they say there is going to be a delay but its the most action I have had from them.

I believe you are referring to physical left and right click : Both of them not working ??

You didn't share you model number but since it's 5 months old, it should have TOUCHPAD support in BIOS. Legacy model only have keyboard support in BIOS.

Reboot to BIOS : Test your physical left click button there, if not working, it would be a small call with tech support.

Start your conversation with Dell "I have tested it in BIOS and it's not working". Best they will try is a BIOS update. Since machine is in warranty Touchpad/Palm-rest (depending on your model, will be replaced.

Usually technical support is toll free, but I am not sure where you are located. I normally make only one call and stick with the same technical until the end. Always check shift timings of the tech and request call back from him via email . every time you call, it lands to a new tech and so on.

Until the tech comes and replaces the part you can use this Brilliant invention.
