Pls advise how to get using adapter to usb-c port, cat5e only works if adapter is on Autonegotiated speed setting which has it limited to 100Mbps. If set on 1Gbps; it fails to get ip address; but adapter properties show it running at 1.0 Gbps and it's working normally.  wifi is getting 400Mbps. Troubleshooter says the ethernet IP is not configured.  This is first i've tried to use ethernet in the 2 years I've had the laptop.  

Have already tried the following:

ipconfig/release

ipconfig/renew

reset winsock

flush dns
