x15 R2, boot from microSD?

Been doing some reading but can't find anything specific to the Alienware "X" line. Am I correct in understanding a $4,000 x15 R2, that they only gave 3 USB ports, but can't boot from the built in microSD reader? I have to be wrong right? Don't see anything in the BIOS, but I can boot with an external reader.

Hi @rmillsdn welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

If want to boot from external drive, change boot order so that external drive option is the first drive option. When Alienware splash screen appears, press and hold down F12 key to enter boot menu.

I do understand the basics of booting from an USB device, however my question is does the BIOS support booting from the built-in SD reader

No, though you may be able to make a bootable SD card and mount it in a USB adapter -- that should work, subject to you're being willing to put up with the slowness of booting from an SD card.

This is the 1st time I have ever heard of anyone wanting to boot from microSD?

The online x15 R2 Setup and Specifications PDF states that the function of the microSD is, "Reads from and writes to the microSD card.". It does not mention boot.
