Alienware 17 (2013 edition) startup issues
Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I've had my Alienware 17 (late 2013 edition) since January this year (2014) and it has worked great up until about a week ago. Now, when I press the power button the following happens:
1) PRESS - machine spins up (hear the fans etc) and the screen stays black and backlight on indefinitely until battery runs out or I hold down the power key to hard shutdown.
2) PRESS AGAIN - machine spins up again, screen stays black, then alienware logo appears then it goes dead - screen black, machine silent.
3) PRESS AGAIN - machine boots normally.
I think this may be related to BIOS A12, which I installed a few days before I noticed this behavior. It does this like clockwork, every time. But I'm concerned that one day it'll enter a loop of not starting up. I hope someone can help me with this, I've had little luck with Dell Customer Support in the past, and this is an expensive machine, I worked hard to afford it.
Any hints and tips appreciated!!!

Hi Naomi,
Thanks for your response.
I've carried out the actions in the link you sent to me, but it hasn't resolved my issue. There are no beeps or flash codes from the system. When I did as the article suggested, I noticed that BIOS update A13 was made available for my system today, so I flashed it, but it hasn't resolved my issue either.
I ran the full thorough ePSA diagnostics, it reported all hardware functioning normally. I can send you a link to a video showing the issue if it would aid in diagnostics. Just to reiterate:
PRESS POWER BUTTON:
system spins up, screen comes on, alienware logo but no spinning circle below it.
PRESS POWER BUTTON AGAIN:
systems starts normally.
Sevron.
