Dell/Net by MSN

Hey Man:

I've spent 3 hours this morning getting "bounced" back and forth between technical support at DellNet MSN and Dell. The problem is that the internet is dog slow. It takes approx. 2 minutes to download websites. Based on directives from both technical reps, I've done everything possible to improve the speed (from closing start-up applications for at least 90% free space to having the IP provider repop the phone connection). It got real frustrating when the last conversation I had with a DellNet MSN rep was a statement that there is something wrong with my new computer (Dimension L series) and that I should contact Dell to replace it!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! I have every confidence in the Dell Technicians that I've talked with this morning. The following discussion from a Dell technician in the final analysis seems to be right on the money...Dell/Net MSN has been swamped with subscribers since this new service began in January, and they don't have enough file servers to keep up with the load. One of the things that attracted me to purchasing a Dell computer was the fact that it included a 1 year free subscription to DellNet MSN. Since I will be using the computer primarily for browsing the internet and email correspondence, this is a major problem for me. The Dell rep suggested that I contact Dell Customer Care at 1-800-624-9897 ext: 66966 to complain. She said that there have been numerous complaints. I've just purchased my system this weekend, so I'm willing to give it a few more days. If I'm not happy, can Dell honor the 1 year free subscription with a more capable IP Provider? Has anyone else out there gone through what I went through this morning?
