HELP NEEDED! Problems installing DVD Writer

I recently bought a dimension e520 and it only came with a dvd rom.  I bought a dvd writer from dell (item # UJ451) and am having trouble installing it.  I think that I have it installed/wired right, but I cannot detect the drive.  I am thinking that I need the driver for it, but cannot find it anywhere on here

Did you have the jumper set for Cable Select?

Did you plug it into the lowest # available SATA port and did you connect the power cable? (for convenience sake for the next step) According to the BIOS information, ports "SATA 2" and "SATA 3" are not supported, so you cannot use them. The Manual (scroll down to the installing CD/DVD drives) states that you have to plug a second DVD drive into SATA 5:

    For example:
    Hard drive - SAT0
    DVD-ROM - SATA 4
    New DVD-RW - SATA 5

Once you have that plugged in, enter the system setup (Press F2 when the computer starts up) and navigate to the BIOS section labeled "Drives". Set "SATA 5" to the on position. Then save and exit the BIOS. Your drive should appear in Windows.

    MRF4700 -

The E520 uses SATA optical drives. There are usually no jumpers on SATA drives. The only time I've seen jumpers on SATA drives is to force SATA 2, Motherboard Select, or SATA 1.5 operation.
