I am very bad with computers, I probably sgouldn't even own one but its the 21st century, what can I do.

I was trying to back up files because it told me I should since it had been over 30 days. The back up failed because of "Catatrophic Failure (0x8000FFFF). What does this mean??????? I dont even get anything to click on. what is this?
