Bluetooth
Can't install Bluetooth...
Bluetooth is enabled in BIOS, I downloaded the new drivers from Dell, but everytime I try to install I get "Press FN+F2", but the message always comes back...
when I press FN+F2 it doesn't do anything...
I allready tried it with renaming bth.info into bth.bak or bth.old, but no luck again..
Anyone who can help? :s

- System Properties; Hardware, Device Manager and open Universal Serial Bus Controllers,
USB Root Hub (second one is Bluetooth on mine) double-click and on
Power Management tab, Un-Tick "Allow the computer to turn off the device
to save power".
It did that for me once and it took two days to get it back on.
So I Un-Checked all four of them, worked perfectly since. Thanks, but still not working.....
I have just spoken to DELL and they recommended the following,
First, Reinstall the OS and then install the drivers following these steps,
1. Dell Notebook System Software
2. Intel Mobile Chipset Driver
3. PCMCIA Controller Driver
4. Video Card
5. Sigma Tel STAC 9750 Audio Driver
6. Integrated LOM Controller Driver
7. Modem Daughter Card Driver
8. Wireless Mini PCI Driver
9. Synaptics/Alps Touchpad Drivers
10. Quickset Utility.
The Second option is to get my mother board and the Bluetooth adapter replaced......
I will be trying couple more things and keep you updated guys.....
Thanks heaps Art for your quick reply....
Hi guys,
I have just got it working; I will be including all what I did; may be some of these procedures are not relevant or required but this all what i did :)
- Uninstall the DELL Bluetooth Software > Reboot
- Wait until Windows fully install the drivers for the new hardware> Reboot
- Install the Latest Dell Notebook System Software Ver A18 > Reboot
- I un-ticked the option “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" by going to System Properties; Hardware, Device Manager, Bluetooth adapter properties. I made sure the adapter is not turned off…..DELL forum member Art mentioned this to me on DELL forum and may be this is the problem. But doing this on the previous installation has not fixed the issue.
- Install the Latest Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth adapter software A05 but this time when the installation asked whether it wants me to the Windows Certificate Check or something similar I clicked NO because I wanted to know what going on. THIS TIME I NOTICED the installation package recognising DELL TrueMobile adapter; I have not seen recognising this before
- After I rebooted the Bluetooth is working fine. But it looks like the DELL adapter does not support Nokia PC Suite Bluetooth connectivity yet. The rest of my Bluetooth devices are recognised and working fine.
Hope these will help getting this issue fixed....Cheers
- Glad its working for you and especially happy you did not have to reinstall O.S..

"...when the installation asked whether it wants me to the Windows Certificate Check or something similar ..."
This is just to save you having to select "install anyway" as according to Dell "there are no MS Signed Drivers
for Bluetooth.

There had been mention of install problems (on D600's) in the forum about incomplete installations due to a
"we must re=boot now" message box covering the Bluetooth install progress box and fix for that was patience. Yep I did read that message!!! I do not know if it has anything to do with the corrupted install on the first time.
The other thing I noticed is when it was not working the drivers were declared as Microsoft’s ones but now they are WIDCOMM ones; they should be WIDCOMM and not Microsoft.
I think the problem happened at a stage when the installation tried to un-install all the previous Bluetooth drivers for the card but could not do that properly for some reason.
In regards to Nokia Software,
I have mentioned before that the adapter is not compatible with Nokia software but I have just found that if you install the Nokia’s before Dell’s software, Nokia can not recognise it.
I have just done repair to Nokia’s software and now everything is running smoothly…
Cheers

You said "new" Drivers, Dell just (February'05) put up New Drivers that are for the Bluetooth 350 that is being installed on the latest (810, 610 etc.) models
R82552.EXE is updated (8/19/04) is the driver for BlueTooth 300, This release improves Microsoft Windows XP SP2 compatibility over previous releases.
Prior to XPsp2, I used R58915/R58942 Also, I had to use Add/Remove to remove the old driver/s before installing ...R82552.
