burn a CD
When I try to burn a copy of a CD "19 Fake Books", I'm not getting any further than the retry button on the"burn CD" in the Media Center. The CD I want to copy is not music you can hear but many printed books of music on one CD. This is an easy one I know but I'm a rookie. Any ideas? Thanx, Glenn

Hello Glenn. Actually I don't know the exact answer because I don't have Media Center, but since you have not yet received a reply I'll tell you what I can. You say you want to copy and burn a data cd that you own. I am not sure which of those processes is causing the difficulty so I will discuss both, and because you originally posted on the Laptop Audio discussion board before your post was moved to the General Hardware board, I will assume that you have a laptop with one optical drive.
If I wanted to copy a data cd I would first put it in my optical drive (cd/dvd drive), "View" the cd or browse to it in Windows Explorer, then drag or copy the data on the cd to a folder on my hard drive.
To burn the data, I would take the original cd out of the drive and insert a blank cd disc. I have Windows XP and in that operating system I just go to the folder where I saved the data, right click on it, and select "Send to cd drive". The data would be copied to a temporary folder which would open. The folder's "File" menu has the command to begin the burn which opens the burn wizard.
If the burn is not successful, try another cd or brand of cd. Try using cd-r's, not cd-rw's. Don't try to burn more than 700 MB of data onto a cd. If still having problems the optical drive might be damaged. Try running a diagnostic test on it.

I googled for "19 Fake Books" but could not find it. I own a bunch of fake books and am always on the look out for more.
