Display not working

I replace a laptop screen on a Inspiron 1545

The Screen i replaced was cracked

There is no inverter on the model laptop

The replacemant screen is light  almosted dark.  if i plug in a  external screen it works fine.

Replaced the video cable on the laptop it is still light.

I put back old cracked screen it is farded the same as the replacement screen.

I am confused.  What could be wrong with the laptop.  I get light image from any combination of cable and screen.

    Hi DavidLouis,

Welcome to the Community. I checked on the Inspiron 1545 and i see this system does have a inverter board for the display. For help to replace LCD for Inspiron 1545 you can use the link below:

My inspiron 1545 has a WLED display which doesn't need an inverter.Older 1545 are fitted with CCFL displays which do require an inverter (to produce the high voltage for the bulbs).

The inspiron 1545 has a tiny fuse on the mainboard to protect it from a shortcut caused by a faulty screen. It is possible that the cracked screen blew up the fuse.
