dell AIO photo 924 printer

Just got a new desk top computer, with Windows 7.  I have tried almost everything to get the printer hooked up to computer by following other posts. Everything seems to go well, installation and all, until I go to print. It comes up as printing, shows the percentage of how much longer for it to print, but it does nothing. Also when I try to print photos it does the same thing. If anyone can help me with this issue, I would really appreciate it. It's a very good printer and would hate to have to buy another after just buying ink cartridges. Thanks.

     kris4424,

First try running Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

    Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 64-bit drivers. Install the Vista 64-bit drivers in the Compatibility mode. You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Dell 924 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

To be able to scan to Microsoft Word, etc..., you'll need to right click on setup.exe, left click properties and install the OCR Program is the Vista SP2 Compatibility mode

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

     kris4424,

Make and model of your computer and operating system. Since you mentioned this is a new desktop, the computer came with Windows 7, correct? 32-bit or 64-bit? (start, control panel, system. There it will state if 32-bit or 64-bit)

     kris4424,

Starnge. Areo you using any type of download accellerators? If so, turn them off as they can correcy the download.

Try reading How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager and use internet explorer to download the drivers.

Make sure the privledge box is unchecked. Maybe just try installing the Vista 64-bit drivers without changing to the compatibility mode.
