For our windows 2008 cluster I need to enable persistent reservation on the devices I present. I have been making metas by specifying the head and the number of devices to include and letting the system choose which ones. After the meta volume is created I go back and enable persistent reservation.

This seemed to be working fine until I went to extend a meta volume. It would not extend because not all of the meta members had the same attributes with the head having the PER bit set and the members not.

It won't let me set the PER bit on the members once they are a part of the meta.

As I see it if I want to create meta volumes and be able to extend them I will have to manually set the PER bit before creating the meta which means I will also have to choose the members and deal with spindle contention. Is there another way to do this that I'm not seeing?
