Fast Cache 2 on Dell Unity 380
I have a Unity 380 storage array with two fast cache disks. Both disks are reporting EOF, and one of them has failed. The fast cache has degraded. I’ve purchased new disks, but they are recognized as SAS Flash 3. The issue is that the "Delete Fast Cache 2" button is grayed out. I want to ask if it is possible to delete Fast Cache 2 using uemcli, and if I delete it while the fast cache pool is degraded, will it work? I also have a pool that is still using the remaining Fast Cache 2 disk.

What is the part# that is on the drives?

Hello Tin_basebs,
The drive is showing the correct part# for SAS Flash2 drive. Not sure why the type is showing as SAS Flash 3. Where did you purchase the drive from DellEMC or a certified reseller?

Thanks for your response.
I have deleted the SAS Flash 2 group on DPE4-5 (fw: S950) and added 2 new disks with the same Part Number to DPE 17-18 (fw: QC4F).But the strange thing is that the 2 new disks are recognized as SAS Flash 3.
Restarting the management services doesn't resolve the issue either. It's really confusing.

To answer your question, we bought the drives from a third party.
However, this is not the first time; we previously purchased cache drives and successfully installed them in SAS Flash 2 format with the same drive part number on another Unity 380 SAN device (different site). The only difference was the SAN device's OE."Does the OE version affect this? OE 5.0.2.0.5.009 works with SAS Flash 2, while OE 5.0.4.0.5.012 works with SAS Flash 3."

Hello Tin_basebs,
Fast Cache supports only SAS FLASH 2 disks. You will need to get SAS Flash 2 disk and then you can add them into you Flash Cache pool. https://dell.to/3VREaSf
