I want to do a complete HDD backup. If I were to use say - Ghost - to create a disk image, would it only make an image of the C:\ patition or will Ghost make a complete HDD image. I would like to image the entire drive, including the Dell recovery partition.
Possible?
That being said, I currently have a 320GB drive. Could you then restore that image to a 1TB drive and it will work properly?
I know Acronis will do this(I did this to switch my 250gig to a 300 gig raptor) and I am pretty sure that Ghost will to. Whenyou image the drive you will make a copy of the entire drive. this is the differnece between imaging and backup.
I also use Acronis. It makes a complete copy of your HD that can be restored onto any disc. The downside is that the disc that you copy to gets formatted to the same size as your old disc (If you copy from a 320gb disk to a 1tb disk you get a 320gb disc with a lot of unussed space at the end). I use Diskpart to expand the disc to its full size again. You can get instructions on how to do this on the web.
