Pull PC Name from BIOS ?
Hi,
I work for a large company that uses approx. 3000 dell pc and purchases around 500 yearly. We use ghost with sysprep to roll-out all the new pc. We prepare an image, save it in the *.gho format then store it for later use. We use it to roll out new pc and units that happen to had hard drive issue.
We use the serial number as the Pc Name which in turn is used to identify the pc on our Network. On the original image that is shipped from dell, each image pulls the serial number from the bios or some files. I would also like to do this via sysprep. Is there anyone willing to assist and help find a solution?
How can when using sysprep, I pull the Serial number of the pc from the bios so when sysprep starts the Windows configuring/install and ask for the pc name it will automatically enter it in so I will not have to manually enter it.
Thanks all
