Recently I bought a Dell laptop Studio 15 with windows 7. It arrived yesterday.... I tried to make some additional partitions. Rebooted the laptop... and now I'm stuck on a blue screen at start up that disappears too fast to read the error. O-K-A-Y.. I never knew I could mess up a computer within 5 minutes...
Anyways, I tried to solve the problem in several ways.... with the help of this forum and google search.
Boot from cd/dvd and try to repair the system. I can choose from the following:
Startup Repair: "Your computer was unable to start" --> Windows cannot solve this problem automatically --> Eventually I get the same options again plus the Dell datasafe restore and emergency backup
System Restore: Doesn't work...
System image recovery: Unfortunately, I haven't made a system image...
Dell datasafe restore and emergency backup: One of the last solutions I wanted to try before asking help. So I clicked on this one to restore to the factory image. When I run this, it already fails after a few seconds at formatting your partition and gives me the following error message: Error 0x400110020000100A and it sends me back to the WELCOME screen.
I also tried to reinstall windows 7: It finds only 2 partitions. Disc 0 partition 1 OEM (reserved) 39.0 MB and disc 0 partition 2 System Recovery 17,6 Gb with only 7 Mb of free space left. I didn't dare to format the latter partition so I didn't try that one out yet...
F8 at power on will allow you to access the Dell recovery partition and you can restore the PC to the original factory condition with this (and no discs are needed). However, with your partitioning or whatever you did if the recovery partition was corrupted you will have to manually reinstall.

hi, I have the same problem with yours. but my computer is inpsiron14R .could you minding telling me how you fix your computer? Please send me email. My email is : <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy> thanks .
When F8 IS working for you and your current windows doesn't work and you did nothing with the recovery partition, so why you don't restore the PC to the original factory condition? Do it and if you did nothing with the recovery partition it should works fine.
