windows explorer shutting down

Hi   I have a problem with windows shutting down when I select "my videos folder" in my dolcuments.  Get a warning that windows is shutting down to protect the system, then I get the notice of choice weather to report or not report this to microdoft along with a lot of verbage about DEP and how to stop DEP from running after I have checked: windows update and the security system.  I have 9.5 gigs of videos in this file, the system is less than a month old.
8400  3.2 pent 4
1 gig RAM
160 hard drive

Any suggestions?  Hope so.
Thanks
Ken

Scan your system for viruses, spyware etc and then see this from Microsoft:

Just press Ctrl+Alt+Del when it does it again. It will help a lot.

I get the same problem on a Dimesion 8400 , 3.4 Pentium, 1 gig ram , and it started the day I got the computer, with Windows Explorer shutting down intermittanly. .  Numerous calls to Dell  tech support, and they finally decided to relplace the hard drive and reload the OS and software.  I am thinking that this is just an issue with DEP and SP2 and after going though all the work of having to reload everything on a new harddrive, I will be in the same position as now.

I basically got the PC to run Microsoft Flight Sim , and people that are pretty computer savvy, suggest that DEP should be turned off permanently anyway, and the result will be faster and smoother operation of the Flight Simulator. What I am wonderig is, is it OK to run the PC with DEP off providing you have a good firewall and virus protect, which I do? Or should I let them swap out the harddrive?
