I have an XPS 9700 connected to a U2720Q monitor with a TB3 cable. However, I keep the laptop plugged in throughout the day as well. Power Manager is set to not overcharge, and even with the TB3 connection it still reports as not charging, so that is good.

I'm curious about what happens to the additional 90 W coming in from monitor? Is it adding more heat and/or load?

I'm concerned of potential wear from the extra power over the long term.
