m15 R3, keyboard error
Hi all!
I'm now using my second M15r3 laptop which has the same fault like the device before, which already got a new keyboard and was serviced by a messy technician which even caused more trouble than before.
While fast - typing there are several combinations of 3 characters (and every word that contains those 3) that cause additional key presses somewhere else, even on the non-existent numpad. The error even occurs in Bios, but there it shows a little bit differently, as in Bios there is US-Keyboard Layout, while in fact I'm having a german layout keyboard with 4 zone rgb.
With switch hitter, i can see which keys are getting actuated additional to the obvious 3 keys I'm typing.
For example "den" could return as "den4" or "de4n" ; or if I type "nur" it would return "nugr". Other combinations might press F1 , F11, some even more than one F-Key , haven't exactly checked every possible combination.
If I type slow, the problem is gone, but, I don't type slow and I don't want to slow down so that my laptop understands what I want from it
My old 2016 Alienware 15 R3 / 6th gen i7k / 1070 etc. never had anything like that. I could type with 90 wpm / around 450-500 apm (ap2m. another combination) so I'm guessing it is some kind of construction error or driver related.
Anyone has an idea how to fix this or at least how to avoid this (maybe some filtering software?)
Or maybe someone has the same problems and found a solution.
For now, Dell escalated my current support ticket to a tech team, maybe they can say more. Let's hope so.
