Our customer has a centera with the latest version of centrastar. They have purchased a basic license.
I have created a test pool where we have placed few pdfs. About 20Mb. These files came in from EMC Content Server with Documentum Administrator Now, I have went in and deleted these files thru my application. It has been 2-3 days and those files still show in this file pool. Same amount of c-clips and size of the pool stay.
How can I really make sure that blobs with unreferenced ca's in my application get deleted off of the Centera?
I actually have a similar issue: I deleted some clips with c-del and they are not shown by c-list anymore - unless I use the "-deleted_only" options. As far as I understand, a clip stays around even it is deleted for a while. But after a Garbage Collect it should be removed. However, in my case it remains. Even after I ran a Garbage Collect, the clip(s) are still shown in c-list xxxxxx -deleted_only.
Is my understanding how garbage collect works wrong?
Just to make sure, I got it right: if I delete a clip with c-del, the data actually does get deleted. It's just the reflection which remains (not sure what a "reflection" means in that term - but will find that out ) Correct?
Garbage Collection frees up the space of the blobs referenced by the clips. If you delete a clip with c-del the reflection remains. This is what allows you to find it with c-list -deleted_only. These reflections are not deleted within Centera and you'll always be able to find them.
After a Garbage Collection run you should see more available capacity in CenteraViewer CLI sho capacity availability. Protected Userdate will decrease in turn.
You are correct. A reflection is a copy of the CDF with the information of the IP address and the time the deletion happened. In case of privileged delete the reason string is added.
quick question, my garbage collection hasnt run in a while. it does not run when i schedule it and the run now button is greyed out. is there a command i can use to run it?
