Second you should check with navicli (faults -list) as sometimes the GUI display can be out of sync

True. I was merely pointing out the diff's between E and F and more or less asking what the assumption of having a bad disk is based on.

Is it really faulty or do you perhaps see the "E". E means "empty", not "error". If you see an "F", that's "Faulty".

I'd call EMC and have them check it out. Let them dial in through the modem or webex and check it for you.

if you have physical access to the array ..go see if any DAEs have amber lights on.

Where do you see the array is operating normally ? Also in Navisphere ? Follow Dynamox's advice and go see the physical box. And what is the status of your hot spare(s) ? Is it syncing, maybe it's already done with syncing and you can pull out the faulty disk and replace it with a new one.

Since I don't have access to any Clariion I'm guessnig here: right click on the Hot Spare LUN inside the Hot Spare disk and click properties. I think it's right there.

If not: right click / properties on the affected LUN in the RGs where this disk shows up defective and watch the rebuild status there.

But: where did you see there's a broken disk in the first place ?

    Hi,
I saw the fault on Navisphere.I think i might just have to restart my management server cos i connect to navisphere remotely on my desk.

Rebooting the server should help some how.

    What do you think?

You can right click on the array icon and select Faults - this will tell you if you have a faulted component - at that time. You can check in the Event Logs - right click on SPA or SPB and select view events - you should see the RED x for faults. Do both SPA and SPB as a disk can fault on one side and not the other.

You might try opening a new Navisphere session using the IP address for the other SP - see if you see any faults that way.

You can also open in Navisphere the Physical tree and open all the DAE's to see if there is a faulted disk. Remember that in a DAE if there is a disk missing that it will be marked with a E = empty.

You can try restarting the Management Server on both SPA and SPB, but I;, not sure what you mean by rebooting the server - not sure how that relates to the array.
