Updates Through OME

I have created an update task, and see that the OME server created the update package, but I am wondering how long it should take before the target system is updated?  I selected run now when I created the task, but I am not seeing any activity on the target system.

Thanks.

That means the update did not run.

please verify the DSM Essentials services are running and then try to rerun the task

    other things to try....

    different update

    different server

local catalog -  using repository manager

Restarting the DSM Essentials services worked.  Thanks.

The update task is silent on the remote server.  you can double click on the update task you created to view the status.

Nevermind, found it, but the job is not there.  The only thing I see in the history is catalog update.

I might be blind, but where is the section called "Task Execution History"  I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Double clicking the task doesn't give me any info.  When I right click the task, it only gives me "export" and "delete"

When I created the task I chose "reboot if needed" since the update includes bios, I assumed a reboot would be neccesary.

That seems like the "System Update Tasks" section.

Look in the "Task Execution History" section for the currently or previously run remote tasks.

that section has a details option when you right click and should provide the status.

Hi and thanks for the post.

The selected package(s) are uploaded to the following location, please check if file(s) are there.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\Essentials\SystemUpdate\Packages

Once the are uploaded they are compressed into a cabinet file (.cab) for transfer to the target, please check here for a subfolder with a number containing the compressed file.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\Essentials\SystemUpdate\Cabinets

Trying to get the latest catalog, but the "Get the latest" button is grayed out. I know the latest CAB file is dated 1 Dec, but it thinks the CAB file dated 09/14/2011 (Release ID = R31347)is the latest one. I can ftp to dell using a command shell.

Also, when you access www.dell.com from your browser, do you have a proxy set in your IE settings?    If so, you will need to go to the OME preferences and enter the proxy/credentials on that screen.  There is a test button in there too.
