Order placed March 29th. Dell Claims my laptop workstation order shipped April 10 and provided a FedEx tracking number. FedEx states they have not received the package and referred me back to Dell. Contacted Dell Customer support (transferred to India) and a whole lot of circle talk and escalation to next step without any measurable action taken.
How can India solve a shipping problem between City of Industry and local FedEx in USA? Other than inquiry emails no one is going to solve a simple package location and take corrective action within the state of California.
You cannot get a US customer service rep. Dell is quick to take your money then fail on a simple question of when will my laptop be delivered. Need to know to set up my CAD class.
I'm very sorry to hear of what has happened. This is not the experience we want our customers to have. Could you provide the order # and the registered owner's name via direct message? I'll have it checked ,
That will be where the shipment originates in the US -- but the manufacturer is in China. Given the shortage of international shipping, and the lockdowns -- it can take time. Most likely it'll arrive by air.
Dell notebooks for the US are all made in China, while the desktops are assembled in Mexico (which in turn uses many parts from China). They are not manufactured or assembled in the US.
Notebooks are manufactured by contractors in Southeast China and shipped in bulk to the US. Until they arrive at the FedEx/Dell logistics center, they are the responsibility of the manufacturer (Compal, Quanta, etc.). Until the system arrives in California, the tracking number will not be active.
Bear in mind there are likely may tens of thousands of systems awaiting processing and shipment due to the fact that the area in China where there are made has been on total or partial lockdown for several weeks, due to COVID-19.
Calling Dell is USELESS. Your transferred to India and they write a ticket, THAT's IT, nothing else. And again NO one in the Dell global sphere can say when my laptop will arrive. By your estimate 10,000 "customers" have the same problem so assuming $2500 per system Dell holds 25 million of their customers money with no idea when computers are delivered. With today's technology where everything is tracked Dell cannot answer a simple question about delivery, but goes out of its way to award conceptual metals while circle talking. I'm not yelling nor causing problems, just pointing out how the Dell Corporation pays lip service to its customers.
NEVER AGAIN unless Dell Corporate puts the juice on China, Flies my laptop to Mather in Sacramento then call me to pick up before the 19th, then I'll claim Dell is the best since sliced bread.
