I have a new Dell laptop that recognizes an external monitor but when I go to change the settings to get it to work, it says "Monitor 2 is Not Active".  I have followed the suggestion of going into the display settings and trying to change them, but it says it is not active.  This monitor works fine on my other Dell laptop and my Sony but not the new one.  I have also followed several suggestions on getting it to recognize the external monitor (I initially did not think it was being detected but it is showing up) but found out this is not the issue.

Any insight would be most helpful.
