I brought a Dell G15 5515 ryzen edition

• CPU - Ryzen 5 5600 H
• GPU - RTX 3050
• RAM - 16 GB dual channel

The temps when running something graphic intensive are totally fine when with gshift enabled. Even the chassis is very cool with gshift enabled.

 

On normal use however I get some bizarre temps. Sometimes it's completely cool while other times it starts jumping all the way to 70 C or even 80 C which is higher than it goes while playing something. During normal use-

• the only things open most of the time I saw this was some firefox tabs and 2 pdfs at most which afaik isn't CPU intensive.
• This happened whether it was on a table or on my lap or on other locations
• It happens inconsistently. As of typing this post I have a bunch of tabs open and I'm listening to music and nothing. It's very cool sometimes and very warm other times
• This is not a refurbished laptop. It is new and under warranty
• I am looking at the temps using alienware command center which came preinstalled in this laptop

What I've already done -

• I made sure that there are no intensive applications running or processes that I don't know taking a lot of resources in task manager
• I looked through the FAQs and searched through posts in this forum. Some of them seemed to mention a 'dell power manager'. I opened it, got a prompt for an update, the update uninstalled it and told me to move to support assistant application and the only option I could see there was for Alienware command center
• I cannot figure out how to set a system-wide thermal profile from the alienware command center. I can't even tell if that's even possible here. I certainly don't see any option for it and my fans do not work according to the offset I created in a profile. I don't think I can even switch profiles for anything other than applications here unless I just use gshift. I see people talking about this feature and I wonder if I'm running an older version of the center or if I can't find it.
