Dell Dock D6000 Replacement cable

Hi guys,

Long story short, my cat somehow got on my desk, and chewed the USB C cable coming off my Dell D6000 Dock. Now I know this is not under warranty, so I wanted to find a way to replace this cable. Opening the dock reveals a USB C port inside, I've tried several USB C cables I had, but none work. So I'm guessing that this cable is a bit different. I was wondering if it's possible to buy the cable, or if there is an alternative I can use.

    Hi all,

I have two D6000 with broken plugs ar home ... It would be nice to give them a second life.

@kevinevans do you have any news about the  PCB design?

I not able to access your OSHPark project (404 Project not found  )

I messed up the Oshpark one, so I removed it.I have a KiCAD project here: https://github.com/kevinhikaruevans/dell-d6000-usb-c-adapter

I tested this initially and it worked. But it's a huge pain to solder up, so I increased the pad size and I'm waiting for the new versions to ship.

Why not have the USB Type-C port immediately exit the dock with the case closed?  A new hole could be added to the housing side with a dremel and then any USB-C cable could be used without having to reopen the dock.  I am interested in one of these once available.  How much are the boards costing to be produced?   Like to get a total cost to build one of these or your cost if you plan to sell these pre-assembled.

    Greetings from Spain!
Over here another D6000 dockstation with a broken USB-C connector. Since there is no replacement for this cable, I have decided to replace the damaged connector with a new one. I have experience in electronic soldering and it is not complicated. The connector to use is a 24-pin USB C 3.1. I have bought these:

This reference to replace the damaged USB:

This reference to replace the USB connector cover:

    https://es.aliexpress.com/item/4000034683378.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6a9d63c0e01veS

A good alternative for the people of the USA:

As soon as I get the connectors and I mount it, I comment on my results.

    Regards!

After a few attempts I find the correct reference connector for the D6000 dockstation:

    https://es.aliexpress.com/item/4000529307352.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3da263c0WhcRme

This connector fits perfectly on the pcb at the end of the cable. Only 2 pins are not used at one side. The dimensions are exactly like the original and fits perfect on the usb cover housing.

After check works fine you can use a glue  like B-7000 for the cover. Let dry almost 24 h.

    Best regards

Same here. Why can we not buy this at support from Dell or Bizlink Technologies (that make them).

OMG77, would you have the wiring diagram to replace the connector? Thanks
