Latitude 5580 enable Thunderbolt

Hello from Germany!

I want to activate "Thunderbolt Adapter Configuration", but I cant figure out how to do that.
All stettings are "grey" and no switch to enable the settings.

USB PowerShare is enabled.
What else can I do to enable Thunderbolt?

Thx and best regards

@petermuss  Happy to help, although I wish we had a better answer for you.  As for a retrofit, the Thunderbolt chipset is soldered onto the motherboard, so Dell has different motherboards for systems that are available with or without Thunderbolt.  It's not an expansion board you can just drop into a slot, unfortunately.

Have a look at this Dell support page. And note the following:

These systems can be configured at the time of purchase with optional Thunderbolt 3 capability:

And the 5580 is listed in the following reference list.

@petermuss  If everything there is grayed out, then your system doesn't have Thunderbolt at all.  If it did, then those options would be available.  Thunderbolt-equipped systems have checkboxes to choose whether Thunderbolt is enabled or disabled, but if even the checkbox for that isn't available, then it's because Thunderbolt isn't present in the system in the first place.

    Thx @all for the infos!

So my 5580 isnt equipped with TB...
Is it possible to add the TB "adapter" or whatever it is named, w/o swapping the mobo?

    Thx and best regards
