Apologies for cross-posting. My dimension 5150's keyboard cannot type the double quote (DQ)correctly. In Win XP I have to press it twice to print it to screen but in Linux it prints a sort of funny (half)DQ which is not recognised as such by Linux, this a big problem for me because I use the R-system a lot and the DQ is used to define character variables. I have a similar machine in my office and it doesn't present this problem. Is it a keyboard problem? Thanks for any help you can provide, Augusto
