Ubuntu LiveCD

hey,

i got a ubuntu LiveCD and it works quite well - im typing in it right now ;)

my problem is i cant find any of my files from the 'Documents and settings' folder in the C:/ drive. I currently have Windows Vista Ultimate installed on my Inspiron 1501. Could anyone tell me the reason behind this? thanks.

Note: Ubuntu is NOT INSTALLED.

You need to mount the Local disk C:

    ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo mount /dev/hda1

other response on mounting noted. if you were to install it, then the usual automatic process would have made the c drive available (mounting)

Does mounting the drive do anything to the hard drive at all? Or does it only 'index' the files on memory? Sorry, kinda new to this ;)

You could mount it read-only to make sure there are no changes made to it.

    sudo mount -o ro /dev/hda1 /media/hda1
